Going Commando

Recently Blighty Film were on set in Suffolk providing specialist supporting artists, costumes, props, and historical consultancy services for an upcoming documentary about D-Day. Here at Blighty we're always flexible to our client's needs, and so when asked to represent No.41 Royal Marine Commando (not a unit we have worked on before), we rose to the challenge, studying period photographs to pick out the details specific to 41 Commando. It would have been all to easy to adopt a generic 'British Commando' look (green berets and bergen rucksacks) without thinking much of it. But here at Blighty that's not our style, and so instead we studied the photographic record looking for any details particular to 41 Commando. Our research paid off, indicating a very particular arrangement of the webbing with '08 pattern large packs worn on the back with the respirator haversack on top, instead of the bergen rucksacks one might expect to see. To complete the look we then had accurate reproduction insignia made to our specifications.

We believe that our attention to detail is what sets us apart, and we're never afraid of a new challenge, the chance to investigate new areas of research and to expand our portfolio.
